FAQs

Why can’t I connect AirPods to my laptop?

AirPods not connecting or syncing with a MacBook computer can be caused by a damaged or dirty AirPod or charging case, an out-of-date operating system on your Mac, competing Bluetooth connections with a smartphone or tablet, or simply selecting the incorrect audio or Bluetooth setting.

Flat batteries in the charging case, as well as AirPod earphones, are common causes of MacBook connection issues.

To fix the problem, try out the following instructions

  1. Charge your AirPods
  2. Update macOS to the latest version
  3. Turn on Bluetooth
  4. Select your AirPods
  5. Select your AirPods while they are in the case
  6. Turn off Bluetooth on other devices
  7. Open the charging g case lid when connecting
  8. Connect the charging case to a power source
  9. Sign in with the same Apple ID
  10. Restart your MacBook
  11. Remove and then re-add your AirPods
  12. Clean the charging case
  13. Clean your AirPods

Unable to connect to your Windows laptop?

A reset is the best way to resolve the problem.

To reset AirPods and AirPods Pro, follow these steps:

  • Close the case and place the AirPods inside.
  • Wait 30 seconds before reopening the lid.
  • To remove your AirPods from the Bluetooth list and pair them again, follow the steps in this post. This is distinct from the connect-reconnect procedure.

To reset AirPods Max, follow these steps:

  • Hold down the Digital Crown and Noise Control buttons at the top of one of the ear coverings.
  • Hold these two buttons together until an amber LED light flashes at the bottom of the same ear cover.
  • Alternatively, to reset your AirPods Max, press and hold the Digital Crown and Noise Control buttons for about 15 seconds or until you see a white LED light.

If your AirPods work flawlessly with all devices except your HP laptop, your PC is most likely to blame. Make sure your Bluetooth is turned on. If that fails, the Windows troubleshooter may be of assistance:

  • To open the Start Menu, click the Windows icon (bottom left corner of Windows 10 or bottom taskbar of Windows 11).
  • Tap Updates & Security (Windows 10) or System (Windows 11).
  • Select Troubleshoot.
  • Click Other troubleshooters.
  • Select Bluetooth.

Hopefully, the troubleshooter will analyse and resolve the problem.

Where is the setup button on AirPods?

The setup button is located at the back of the AirPods charging case.

Do AirPods have a mic?

Each AirPod has a microphone, allowing you to call and use Siri. The microphone is set to Automatic by default, so either of your AirPods can serve as the microphone. If you only use one AirPod, it will serve as the microphone.

The microphone can also be set to always left or always right. You can also set the Microphone to Always Left or Always Right to have either the right or left AirPod use the microphone even when removed from your ear or placed in the case.

Do AirPods work with Windows?

Although AirPods work best with Apple computers, the earbuds will work with any Bluetooth-enabled device. That means you can connect your AirPods to almost any Windows laptop. The Bluetooth pairing process is simple and only needs to be done once.

How long do AirPods last?

The battery life of AirPods Pro is the same as that of AirPods, with up to five hours of listening time, but in Active Noise Cancellation mode, listening time is reduced to four and a half hours and talk time is limited to three and a half hours. The Charging Cases for all models provide up to 24 hours of additional listening time or over 18 hours of extra talk time.

The ability of AirPods or AirPods Pro batteries to retain a charge is the limiting factor of their lifespan. Over time, you’ll notice that the AirPods no longer last up to five hours. Over several months of use, battery life per charge may decrease significantly. The time this takes depends on how frequently you use your AirPods. Still, based on research and observations, the original AirPods will last about 2 years before you notice a noticeable decline in battery function. Airpods Pro are unlikely to last much longer.
